Finding Nude Models: Approaching Potential Models in Public

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Most erotic photographers find models in one of two ways: going through an agency that specializes in adult talent or using advertising to find potentially interested models. However, there is another method that can also be used. In fact, many photographers find this method to be not only the most interesting, but the most lucrative as well.

The process involves approaching women in public (at the mall, at the beach, walking down the street, etc.) and inquiring about their interest in modeling nude. Depending on your individual personality, this may sound exciting and fun or it may sound like the hardest and most difficult thing in the world. However, even if you feel a bit apprehensive, there are good reasons why you might want to give this method a try.

In my ebook, MONEY SHOTS!, I provide the reader with a wide variety of simple and specific techniques to use when approaching potential models in public (the book is available at http://moneyshotsbook.com/).

When you advertise for models, you will generally get calls from women who have already given at least some thought to the possibility of modeling. This also applies when you search for models through agencies or talent websites. What all these women will have in common is, at the very least, they have given some thought to modeling nude.

But what about all the other women out there in the world? What about the huge percentage who have never even thought about the possibility? Without question, there are many women who have said to themselves, “Modeling nude might be fun and sexy, but I don’t know the first thing about how to go about it.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not implying that every woman you see on the street has a secret desire to be a model. However, there are millions (and millions) of women around the world who would be intrigued by the idea of modeling nude if the opportunity were to directly present itself.

For photographers looking to make money from their work, images of these types of women can be very lucrative. The reason for this is simple: Publications and websites that are in the market for nude photography are constantly looking for new faces. These outlets prefer not to repeatedly feature the same models.

The market has a hunger for models who haven’t been seen before (or have been seen very little). Consequently, if you can find women who have never modeled before, you will be in a significantly better position when it comes to selling your work.

In fact, this is a major reason why you don’t have to live in a big city to be successful in the erotic photography business. Simply because a particular area may not have modeling agencies that specialize in adult talent doesn’t mean that there aren’t many potential models to work with. Granted, you may have to look a little harder for them. However, when you do find a new model, chances are good that her pictures will be worth more than those of a model who has already been repeatedly seen.

I hope I’ve been able to convince you to give this particular model-finding method a try. In a later article I’ll be discussing specific techniques you can use to make the process of approaching women in public as simple, comfortable, and productive as possible.

Believe me, it’s not as difficult as it may seem.

Why Photographers in Charlotte NC Are Among the Best Anywhere

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

Are you looking for photographers? Regardless of any occasion, hiring professional photographers is a good idea. Even if there are digital SLR cameras that can be used by anyone, a professional photographer still has the better knowledge and skills on what would make up a great photo. If you would hire professional photographers, it would be better to hire someone from Charlotte, North Carolina. You can find a lot of professional photographers but Charlotte photographers are one of your best choice. Here are some reasons why photographers in Charlotte NC are among the best anywhere.

First, they are the most skilled and talented. When it comes to photographers, the skills and talent in photography should be your best choice. There are many photographers out there but the photographers in Charlotte NC can capture your best looks in your best angle. A good photographer should be able to help you look your best. Although the makeup artists and hair stylists can pump up your appearance, the photographer’s skills and talent can also help in hiding your blemishes in the photo. For instance, a woman who does not have the perfect shape of nose could still look amazing if the photographer knows the best angle for cases like that. There are many kinds of shots and professional photographers in Charlotte NC can choose the best for you.

Hiring a photographer from Charlotte NC would be your best choice for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings and reunions. Unlike in regular days when you can have so much time to smile for the camera and repeat the same poses if you do not look good in the first shots, these special days may be your busiest days especially if there are many guests. During these special days, you could just hire a professional photographer. You could do what you need to do – talk to the guests, start the toast, etc. – and rest assured that the photographers would capture you in your best look and best moment.

Second, the photographers in Charlotte NC offer some of the best packages. Of course, not everyone could or would be willing to spend a lot on photographs. This is also one of the main reasons why some people opt not to hire a professional photographer on some occasions. But with the photographers in Charlotte NC, you would surely get high quality pictures for just a small amount of money. It is possible for you to get cheap packages from other photographers in other states but you would not be sure of the quality. When it comes to quality, you can include the quality of photo paper, printing, and the additional features such as frames and albums.

Third, the photographers in Charlotte NC are professional. No matter how good the packages are and how excellent the photographers are, you should not prefer them if they are not professional. Professional photographers are the ones who would arrive at the said time. A photographer who would not arrive on time will not be able to capture the early part of the event and that means you will not have photographs on that moment. It is like missing some parts of the event in print.

There are many options when it comes to keeping your special moments in photos. You can opt to buy some compact point and shoot cameras as well as digital SLR cameras and have one of your family members or friends take the photos. However, a professional photographer can be your best option. When you hire a professional photographer, consider hiring one of the photographers in Charlotte NC. You are guaranteed that they are talented, skillful, and professional. They are also the ones who can provide the best deals in packages for photography coverage.

Six Outdoor Photography Tips

Saturday, February 25th, 2012

You may or may have noticed this but portrait photography is becoming quite a thing nowadays and if you are an aspiring photographer in the future, you should endeavour to master this craft if you want to create a name for yourself. You should really avoid a lot of the very important do’s and don’ts because the skills you will learn in this craft will ensure that you take spectacular pictures in the future. Such skills will ensure that you take magnificent photographs, even using a lowly digital camera and to be able to significantly accomplish this task, you should avoid making mistakes; you should avoid making these outdoor photography mistakes that people love to commit:

You should try to avoid taking pictures with a group of people all facing the sun. Instead of doing this, you can take a picture of the subject and have the sun behind him, her or them because it will give you very good hair light and offer you some depth. This kind of shot will work for both sunset and sunrise photographs.

Never take pictures of people head-on, especially with both their shoulders and toes facing front as this will be the most unflattering way to capture a person. This will receive so many complaints as the subject will look stuffier and heavier in the photo as they really should.

Until you achieve to capture some hard shadow in black, you should always avoid to take pictures of people too close to a background because you should always allow natural light to wrap around the subject first. The softer light can take magnificent shots so if you want to do this you should at least provide 2 metres of space between the background and the subject when taking specific outdoor pictures.

You should never try to put certain things in the background unless you have a specific purpose for it. You cannot just put whatever you want on the photograph because you think it will look good. Every photograph should be representative of something and if something is laid out there and does not exactly make sense, it will only end up ruining the photograph in ways that you may not be able to salvage anymore.

Do not force people to pose in any weird or awkward way, even if you think it is going to be totally hilarious. Unnatural poses are very annoying and most people appear quite awkward, as well. It is better that you stick to the normal rules of posing and take many natural photographs as possible instead of making people pose purposely in front of the camera.

Also try to avoid taking shots of people from behind because it is not exactly flattering to take pictures of people’s backs. This rules can only be violated or bent if you are taking pictures of babies and toddlers in their natural environment; or if you are snapping certain events in a child’s life that may never occur ever again.

If you are after quality and sophistication, try to avoid all the things mentioned in this article because while many photographers think that doing those things are quite creative of them, they are wrong. Do not make the same mistake and have a great photography future, ahead of you.

Watermarking Photos

Friday, February 24th, 2012

A watermark is a mark put on work to identify the artist, maker or owner. When used in photography, it is a way of indicating that the rights of the image belong to the holder. Depending on what the artist chooses to reveal within the watermark, it could consist of anything such as a first and last name, a business name, year or website. The reason to have photos displayed with a watermark on them is to protect the images. Images can be enhanced and reproduced by graphic artists and can be attempted to be resold. People who make a living creating only photographs need to protect their art and there are several ways to go about it.

Branding the entire photo with a watermark ensures that the photo cannot be altered, or makes it more difficult. Many people who are graphically well educated can remove watermarks and make it look like there was never a watermark there in the first place. However, stamping or branding an entire photo with your own name can get in the way of the photo’s beauty. Try to keep the watermark simple if you would like to place it on an entire image. Any more than one color draws your eye away from the photo making it a lot less interesting to look at. For simple placement, a name or company and a year can all be put on one line and placed in a more attractive spot depending on the orientation of the photo.

Some of these watermarks can be easily cropped out, but there are other ways of protecting your photos. There are ways that photo metadata (information attached to the photo file) can be copyrighted and when the information of said photo is looked up, the metadata can be seen as property belonging to someone. Another way to protect your photos is to resize the quality so that they are perfectly suitable for the web. If you resize an image to fit in a specific space where the quality still looks great, people trying to copy or steal that photo have less flexibility. They are less able to alter and remove the watermark from a photo. In essence, you’re giving them less to work with.

There are hundred of ways you can go about creating a watermark. Consider where you would first want it to be placed, and then what you would want it to look like. When thinking about where your placement should be, look at photographs with watermarks on them and ask yourself if you want it to be simple, obtrusive, in the way or out of the way. Some photographers put their watermarks on a very intricate and detailed part of their photograph because it would be harder to alter or replace. Color is also important-your eyes should be drawn to the photograph, not the watermark. Many people use black or white, or create a transparent black, making it look see-through and gray.

For those who are proficient in Photoshop, there are ways you can create editable text, or make your watermark an image meant for placement. There are third-party applications that you can download or purchase that can help you create the watermark edit your images at the same time, also known as batch editing.

To create a simple watermark in Adobe Photoshop, try this:

- Choose an image you would like to place a watermark on.
- Select the “T” or the “Type” tool and enter what you would like to see on your photographs. Ex: © Photo 2010. Choose the font and size you would like it to be, click the move tool and place it.
- Copyright symbol for Macintosh users is made from the combination of keys Option+G.
- For Windows users, use keys Alt+0169.
- Choose a color, a shade or opacity of a color for the watermark.
- Save!

Photos with this type of text layer will by default be saved as a .PSD (a Photoshop file). You can change that by choosing the file format you would like. A basic watermark like the one shown above can be converted into an “Action” which can help you save time by doing all of that in one click.

Some Things You Need to Know Before You Start With Photography

Friday, February 24th, 2012

It is not easy to break into a new hobby, especially one that is quite difficult to master. It is quite discouraging to be taking photographs only to find them too dark or blurry, all the time. It is not easy to easy especially for a beginner in photography to be able to perfectly grasp all the techniques right away, more so the terminologies that come with the technique. But if you are really quite intent on you wish to keep true to your passion, you have to find a way to take some time to learn, practice and completely embrace these new things starting with the following:

- Shutter Speed. This is the amount of time that the shutter is open, to allow light to strike the Charged Coupled Devices (CCD). It converts light that comes in through the lenses into electric signals into digital images. It can be adjusted with the aperture to be able to capture a specific subject. When you set your camera with a slower shutter speed, more light will get in since it is opened longer. If you try to take photographs using this setting, say photographs of different bodies of water, you will find that this will create a beautiful effect. On the other hand, if you set the shutter speed to a faster speed, you allow less light to come in since the shutters are moving quite fast and this is perfect if you wish to create some sort of freezing effect, so this will be perfect when you are trying to take action shots.

- Aperture. This works hand-in-hand with the shutter speed and it is also sometimes called the AV or the aperture value. It functions to increase or reduce the thickness of the light beam that goes through the lens to strike the Charged Coupled Devices (CCD). When the aperture is opened, it will reduce the aperture value; and when the aperture is closed it increases it. You can try this trick by taking pictures of nature, perhaps in a garden or in the mountains. Take a flower for instance; you can take different kinds of photos of a single flower using different effects. When you have the aperture open, you will be able to bring much emphasis on the flower and its surrounding will be out of focus. However, if you take a picture of the flower with the aperture closed, you can adjust the range of focus so that the other objects will not be lost in the picture.

- Camera Shake. Those who are just beginning in photography will encounter all kinds of problems and one of the many quandaries is camera shake that produces blur. When you cannot keep the camera still, and if it moves while you are taking a picture, you will create a blurred image. You can easily increase the shutter speed to counter this problem; and if that does not solve it, you can also choose to increase aperture too while making sure to using the flash. If the previously mentioned techniques does not solve your blurry problems, then perhaps you are better off with a tripod. While many of the newer DSLR models come with anti-shake features, it is still nice to know how to deal with this problem, especially if you are handling older models.

These are only some terminologies, to help jump start you; do not close your doors for more because there is just so much that you have to learn.

Are You Into Photography? Here Are Seven Items That You Camera Bag Should Have

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Many people claim to be into photography but what many do not realise is that being a photographer is more than just owning a camera. Once you have decided to pursue you passion in taking pictures you need to be prepared. You need the right equipment to be able to produce the best results. There are specific equipment that will help you deal with different situations and you need to be ready with everything so here are 7 items that every photographer’s bag should have all the time:

1. Memory. This is probably the biggest mistake you can make because when you run out of memory in the middle of a shoot, you may be forced to delete some pictures previously taken, or stop shooting altogether. To avoid this, always make sure to pack extra memory in your bag, just in case you get too overwhelmed during one shoot and could not stop yourself from taking great pictures.

2. Lens Cloth. Smudging your lens is a common thing and while you may think that it is just alright to use any kind of cloth, you may damage you lens by using just any kind of cloth. Always make sure to pack a microfiber lens cloth with you, all the time; because dirty lenses can easily ruin your pictures. Store your lens cloth in a small plastic bag so that it does not get any grit that can damage your lens, and make sure to pack it with you all the time.

3. Battery. Spare batteries are also very essential because when you run out of battery, especially when you are trying to capture something important, then you have no choice but to just miss the opportunity. Some cameras needs simple AA batteries and that is great because all you have to do is to pack some extra AA batteries with you, and that is not expensive. However, if you have specialised batteries, you need to make sure to invest on extra batteries, so you can keep on shooting even after your fist or second battery runs out.

4. Filters. In professional photography, you will need to make use of different kinds of filters. First of all, you need UV filter to protect your lenses from the harsh rays of the sun. This kind of filter will also help your camera to record different colours more accurately. Another kind of filter to consider is the circular polarising filter that will help your get more accurate images of the sky and the water.

5. Tripod. This equipment is important to keep your camera steady. It is not easy to be lugging a huge camera around all the time and using a tripod will help you take more pictures and at the same time, keep the camera completely still. You do not know what big a difference using a tripod can do to your photos especially when you are dealing with blurry photos and clear ones.

6. Flashlight. Flashlights can produce good effect for the photos you take; and since you will never know when you might need extra light, then it is always nice to have some extra light ready and waiting.

7. Plastic Bag. This might be making your eyebrows raise, but having some plastic bags in your camera bag will truly be helpful. This will save you, should it suddenly rain and you quickly need something to protect your gear; and it will also be helpful if you need to take photographs in damp and misty environment.

It takes so much more than just knowing how to take photos to be a professional. Be the best you can be, when you have the right equipment all the time.

Travel Photography Tips – How to Take Great Pictures

Friday, February 24th, 2012

Travel photography can be described in many ways, but for most people it simply entails getting memorable photographs of the things they experience as they explore the world. Travel photography includes such things as road trips, long vacations or trips within your own local area that require you to pack a bag and leave your house. Before you jump into your car for a fun vacation, check out these helpful hints so you can come back with a bunch of amazing pictures from your adventure.

Gear Up Properly

Large-format cameras take some of the most beautiful and detailed images possible. However, if you’re planning a hike you may not want to carry an 8×10 behemoth around with you for the entire day. Before leaving the house, take a realistic inventory of your gear and cross-reference it with your plans – anything that you won’t realistically need or that may become a burden should be left at home. For nearly every application, an SLR camera with one or two lenses and a backup battery should be more than sufficient.

Explore

If you love taking pictures, then it should be no surprise that we take pictures of the things that leave an impression on us like going to Paris and taking lots of pictures of the Eiffel Towel and the Louvre. But the problem is that everyone else who has been there takes the same photos. If you really want to create incredible pictures from your adventures you have to be willing to explore new areas. Try asking locals for suggestions on what to see or take a tour of less well-known landmarks. The world is beautiful and photography allows us to capture its beauty, but there are many amazing photographs being missed if you’re not actively exploring. Try finding new places and try to get lost in every place you see and you’ll likely find the hidden beauty just out of view.

Better Safe than Sorry

Besides just bringing a bunch of extra batteries, you should also remember to bring either an extra memory card or more film depending upon what you’re using. Another good idea is to always bracket your shots. Bracketing is when you shoot 3 pictures instead of 1. The first shot is at the suggested aperture while the second shot is too low and the third is too high. Travel photography often means taking pictures that you’ll never see again so bracketing helps to make sure that you have enough images to work with once you get back home.

Share Your Story

Every time you go somewhere you should think of yourself as an ambassador to the place you’re visiting. Imagine you have been given an assignment by a photo editor to tell the “story” of a place with your photographs. Every picture you take while you’re on your trip is part of a greater story of your overall vacation. Whenever you can, try to have every picture have meaning and represent a part of your trip. For example, a room full of people is best suited with a theme of celebration while a shoot in the desert makes a perfect isolation theme. There should always be a connecting line between your photographs.

Travel photography is by far one of the most satisfying niches of photography to work in. You get to have fun doing what you love taking beautiful pictures while at the same time exploring fascinating new places. As long as you shoot with purpose, pack the right gear, and try to stick to a theme, friends and family will admire your travel album for years to come. Just remember to take a little time to enjoy the experience while you’re there; it’s easy to get caught up in the camera and completely miss the joy of the trip.

The Basics of Photo Backgrounds

Friday, February 24th, 2012

One of the most important elements of a photograph is often the one that is the most frequently overlooked. The background of an image can do many things- it can help establish context for the image, add emotion or feeling and strengthen the narrative of the picture. When taking pictures, it’s important to know how your background will impact your picture and how you can use it to your advantage.

Look at the Background

The next time you have that perfect photo lined up in your frame and you’re about to hit the shutter button, take a second to examine the background. Are there any distracting people or objects behind your subject? Are there any noticeable or loud colors that bring your attention away from the subject? Is there a tree or light pole coming out of the person’s head? Every time you photograph you should be thinking about these things, and with your handy mental checklist they’ll be a lot easier to avoid.

Crop Inside Your Camera

Framing is an incredibly important part of the art of photography. Many bad backgrounds can be avoided altogether simply by framing the picture differently and having the subject take up most of the picture. Don’t forget that you really don’t need a background with every shot- a background is simply an option that’s available to enhance your image. If you can try to make the decision to crop while you’re shooting instead of after the fact.

Get Moving

If you don’t like the looks of your background than it’s time to start moving and find a better angle. In just about every case, you can always find a way to avoid a bad background. Additionally, shifting the angle around a bit may give you new inspiration on how to make good use of the background, and will also help you create unique and interesting photographs.

Be Resourceful

While studio photographers have long relied on backdrops to help enhance their portraits, there are plenty of incredible opportunities to be found right in the environment. Any time you’re taking picture of someone, take a look at the area around you to see if there is anything that will help to enhance the picture. For example, don’t include a swing set in the background unless you’re going to have your subject sitting in it? Consider the background to be another character in your photographs and utilize it whenever possible.

Playing Around with the Depth of Field

It is important that the inclusion of a background is a choice made by the photographer, and not something that just “happens.” You can play with the depth of field of your photograph by using different shutter speeds, so feel free to blur out the background with shallow depth of field if you feel that it isn’t important or will be distracting. Additionally, people interpret depth of field differently depending on the image, so try to think of ways that manipulating it can tell a more powerful story.

Many photographers spend so much time worrying about capturing their subjects that they completely overlook the background. If you use backgrounds properly they can make a shot look great, while ignoring a background can make a bad shot even worse.. When it comes right down to it, the photographer is really responsible for every element of the picture. If you have a background that is distracting to your image, it’s your job to either make it work or get rid of it. Backgrounds can be difficult, but if you’re paying attention you will soon learn to use them without thinking.

Five Photo Projects to Improve Your Photography Skills

Friday, February 24th, 2012

It’s not uncommon to find ourselves occasionally stuck in a rut. These ruts aren’t limited to our day-to-day lives and can often crop up in our hobbies. Even the best photographers will find themselves stuck in their comfort zones, so it’s important to force yourself to take on new and interesting projects. Here are five ways you can challenge yourself and test your photographic skills.

Taking Pictures of Yourself

Photographers spend so much time behind the camera they often forget to get images of their most reliable subject – themselves. Taking your own self portrait is a challenging area of photography. Focus up a remote focus, making yourself look good (in your own eyes), framing, and many of the other things we take for granted as photographers become infinitely more complicated when we lose the ability to look through the lens. If you want to liven up your pictures try adding a few props to your self portrait and see how it turns out.

Go Retro

Sure, you may be a pro with that fancy all-digital SLR in your hands, but what about with and old-school twin reflex? If you’ve run out of fresh ideas, there is nothing better than getting some old equipment and figuring out how to use it. As an added bonus, you will learn to understand many elements of photography that may have been automatically taken care of with your newer gear, and your photos will only improve as your knowledge of the medium increases. Toss out that light meter and bring in the notepad!

Photo Mash-Ups

One of the most interesting things to do with photography is superimposition. If you’re not familiar with superimposing, it’s the art of taking two pictures and superimposing them over each other. This can create interesting and impressive images that challenge your imagination. Of course, digital photo editing suites have made this process far easier than it used to be, and far less dangerous – you can take two perfectly good shots and work them together later instead of counting on your wind abilities to get it right the first time.

Play Around with Time Lapse Photography

Time-lapse photography refers to taking hundreds of pictures of the same subject over long periods of time. Although this type of project does require a big commitment it can be very satisfying when it’s all completed. Interesting subjects for this include children, buildings, outdoor environments that experience weather changes, or even you. If you’ve ever seen one of those slide shows of a person who took a photo of themselves every day for several years, that is a prime example of time-lapse at work.

Make a Story

If you love writing and taking pictures then this will definitely be a fun photo project for you. The goal here is to create a narrative, either on paper or in your mind, about a character that lives in your area. You should think of how they spend their day and then take a lot of pictures of how you think they would spend their day. When you’re all done, you can put all of your pictures in order and write descriptions for each one explaining your story.

Photography is an art, and like any other are it requires inspiration if you want to keep it fresh. Finding new and exciting ways in which to shoot will not only keep your hobby entertaining, but will help you to develop a wider set of skills. The next time you find yourself stuck in a rut, try doing one of these projects and watch yourself suddenly coming up with all new kinds of photo ideas.

Angel Photography – A Thrilling Experience

Friday, February 24th, 2012

It is every single persons desire to click good pictures, that is to click pictures with good quality. This is quite impossible by everyone. However, this can be achieved by taking snaps from certain correct angels. There are different angels in which you can take pictures. Main point to be noted is to keep moving when you take a snap. Never stand in one position and click looking straight on to the subject; this is when you do not get good pictures.

Some of the points to be followed while clicking a snap are, in the first place never standing front of the subject. Next see to that u take the picture from a low position; either lie down on your stomach or stand on your knees and click the picture. This gives a very good quality and attractive feature to the picture. Try lying down on your back and take the picture, this gives a good effect on the picture, also see to that when you take a picture never hold the camera straight in front of the subject’s eye as it might cause abnormalities to the picture.

Another different type of photography is the extreme photography, which involves a great deal of imagination. Most of the people are often awestruck by certain canvas pictures; this is because of their imaginative power that makes people feel that even an unreal picture looks so real and non-artificial.

To know more about extreme photography; extreme photography is a collection of pictures that are taken in an unusual situation or imaginary background. Some of the examples for extreme photography are a person standing on an ocean, a dog floating upwards towards the sky and so on. This photography is not like the normal one. It is quite interesting and tough as well, because capturing something imaginary is always difficult. However, the effect it gives also is unbelievable. Moreover, the best way to make it more attractive is by printing them on a canvas for the world at large to see.

Now to move on to where we can capture these wonderful movements, the main and most important field is the sports where we can capture some of the high jumps of the basketball players, some wonderful kicks by the foot balers and may be some wonderful strokes by the cricketers. The photography is not limited to just these fields, but in many other fields. Some of the other fields are the dance, films and so on.

This photography also should be shot with specific care and at respected angels to gain the right effect, otherwise this will be a great waste. Photography is not merely a pass time or a fun event but it improves our imaginative power to a very great extent. Hence, this helps our mental growth in a marvelous way.

To become successful in photography, as previously told angels are the most important key to get amazing pictures. In addition, it is not very hard to get the angels right. With just a little bit of practice people can work wonders using just a camera.
